International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sets standards and regulations necessary for aviation safety, security, efficiency and regularity, as well as for aviation environmental protection. Azerbaijan is a Member of ICAO since 1992. ICAO works with the Convention’s 192 Member States and industry groups to reach consensus on international civil aviation Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and policies in order to support a safe, efficient, secure, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible civil aviation sector. Azerbaijan implements these SARPs and policies to ensure that its local civil aviation regulations and operations conform to global norms. The experts of Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Department are the active members of different ICAO working groups and this close co-operation with international organizations and member states allows us to participate in the aviation lawmaking both on the regional and global levels.
